How do you become an Owner Builder?

When am I considered an Owner Builder?
An owner builder is defined as a person who is at least 18 years of age, who constructs or renovates a domestic building on his or her own land, above the value of $12,000 in costs (including materials). 
An owner builder must obtain their Owner Builder Licence, and obtain all building permits and consents to build from their council before beginning their project. It may be necessary in many cases to obtain Owner Builder Construction Insurance in order to obtain council approval to build.

How do I become a Licensed Owner Builder?

In order to get council approval to build, an owner builder is required to complete an approved Owner Builder Licensing course. These courses can be done online or through face to face workshops.
